Since it was chartered in 1749, Culpeper County has been an important crossroads for business.  Culpeper's economy is multifaceted and changing with the times. The County and Town governments along with various agencies and local representatives are working hard to bring and retain business in Culpeper and nurture long-term relationships with local businesses and industries.

Foreign Trade Zone

Culpeper has a Foreign Trade Zone designation, offering business incentives at the Culpeper Industrial Airpark and the Montanus Industrial Center north of town.

Diversity

Culpeper has a diverse business base ranging from corporate headquarters to small service industries and a large assortment of small business owners who play an important role for our residents and visitors.

Agriculture

Culpeper's farming community has seen a shift in the source of agricultural revenue coming from intensive uses of the land represented by nursery and greenhouse production.  When combined with all other non-edible plant production, the "greens industry" easily is the leading economic sector in the local agriculture.  A host of agricultural product suppliers are locally based and joined in competition from across the Commonwealth, the Mid-Atlantic region and even west of the Mississippi, a sign of our globalizing economy with few boundaries to commerce.  A diversified agricultural community allows for the volume and the margins necessary to support the presence of these critical product suppliers.
